Bird Storyhour

Books

  • Whose Chick Are You? by Nancy Tafuri. Short, sweet, & a great readaloud!
  • Owl Babies by Martin Waddell. Laughter over Bill's repetitious, squeaky, "I want my mommy!"
  • Duck on a Bike by David Shannon.  Funny, great readaloud in difft farm animal voices.
  • Duckie's Duckling by Frances Barry.  Everyone loved this fun die-cut book.
  • Little Owl Lost by Chris Haughton or Shh! We Have a Plan (to catch birds!) Get a lot of audience participation on this one.
  • Flight School by Lita Judge.  Penguin is ready to sign up for flying lessons even though Flamingo and Pelican point out that he isn't supposed to fly. "I have the soul of an eagle," he insists.
  • Grumpy Bird by Jeremy Tankard.  Get the kids to stand up and walk (in place) while Grumpy Bird walks, and then stop, stand on one leg, etc.
  • Peck, peck, peck by Lucy Cousins. A woodpecker slowly pecking its way out of the book. With die cuts.
  • Birdsongs. Steven Jenkins makes it easy to do the bird sounds by spelling them out for us. Another beautiful book from him.

Songs

  • Five little ducks ran in the parking lot
  • Waves at the sea instead of Wheels on the Bus (There's a seagull)

Craf

Working hard on our July 4th craft. Glitter is involved. That's a star bindi on Oliver's head.

Great job, Amelia!

Wonderful!
